Ocean Front House near Natural Pool

The location of this house is great. In front you see the ocean and in the backyard you can see Pico.
When you cross the street, you can swim in the ocean.
The house is little ( we were with 5 people) but there is everything you need. The backyard is great with a barbecue.
We loved it!
The owner is friendly and helpfull.
Madalena is nice and there are shops to buy everything you need.
You need bikes or a car because it is too far to walk every day for your food.. We have been on a whale and dolphin trip with the Black Pearl and we saw many many dolphins; it was great!!!
It is nice to view the harbour with the fishingboats; we got a big tuna from the captain!
We had a very good week on this island; we will not forget it!

Sweet, little house on the outskirts of Madalena, but very close to the ocean. Eventhough the house is smallish, it has all the amenities you expect and even more (satellite TV and 2 mountain bikes !). It has a garden in the back with loungers, bar-b-q and excellent views of Mount Pico.
The natural pool is just in front of the house (10 meters walk). The pool can be quite busy (so cars stopping and going all the time) when the tide is high. Early in the morning and after 20.00 h. is very quiet and you can have the pool (and sunset) by yourself. There is also a little café, ideal to nip out to get an ice cream or cold beer.

Four of us stayed for a week from May 26th and the rooms are spacious and the house is very well equipped for all your household needs.For anyone who loves the sea, this house is probably the best you will ever find.You can watch the waves from the front porch and hear them breaking at night from the bedrooms.It doesn't get any better than this !! The house is located in an area with very little vehicle traffic and the location is ideal for anyone wanting to take long walks in the surrounding countryside.
The owner is very accommodating and goes out of his way to make sure everything is right.He also rents vehicles at very reasonable rates.
All in all,one of the best vacation houses I have ever rented for location and value.

Brilliant Family Vacation from Laurie 03/Jan/2012 (regarding a stay in November 2011)

We had a truly wonderful stay at barca cottage by the sea. Before we arrived we were worried that our 14 year old and 9 year old children would get bored without any organized activities or other children to play with, but there was plenty to do, including visiting the caves, whale watching, and swimming in the warm sea and walking along the rocky coastline discovering all the marine life!
The owners provided us with ferry schedules, maps and helped us with organizing our holiday before we even arrived on the island.
The cottage was pleasant inside with everything we could possibly need for a holiday and worked for our family.
The views from this cottage are stunning and the island is rustic and wild nature appeals to us, it is very unspoiled! we spent the whole time marveling at the fact that we saw very few other English people anywhere. Pico Island is easy to get around; good signage everywhere and in English. The property manager-host took care of our car rental, whale watching and even provided cycles for us to use. The owners are hospitable, and on hand anytime to suggest the best restaurants, and best wines. We enjoyed our family vacation and highly recommend this accommodation!
