The accommodation

This is a new apartment, situated close to Comillas beach, approx. 800m, and on the western coast of Cantabria, Northern Spain. Its privileged location makes it ideal for visits to the monumental towns of Comillas and Santillana del Mar, the Oyambre Nature Reserve, as well as the Picos de Europa National Park.

The apartment is in a recently constructed building and has a double room and a twin room, a lounge-dining room with a kitchenette, a bathroom with a shower, all brand new. A large sunny terrace with garden furniture, a private parking space in the underground.

Setting

Fly directly to Santander with Ryanair from London Stansted, Frankfurt Hahn, Milan, Rome, Madrid and Dublin in the summer. Easyjet to Bilbao Airport then motorway to Santander. Also Brittany Ferries from Plymouth and P+O Portsmouth to Bilbao, UK. Here is a link from the Campsa, copy and paste it in the search engine address. then reduce the size of the map
Leave the airport and follow the signs for Santander, go along the motorway S10 for a very short distance and take the first turning for Torrelavega, (A 67). Carry straight on along the motorway and just before Torrelavega, (not the turning you see for Santitllana del Mar/Comillas between Santander and Torrelavega as that takes you along the coast road, however it is another option) turn RIGHT towards E-70/OVIEDO/A-8/CABEZÓN DE LA SAL. Take A-8/AUTOVÍA DEL CANTÁBRICO, EXIT /COMILLAS/CABEZÓN DE LA SAL, and at the roundabout take the second exit for Comillas. Go straight on until you get to the Comillas, go straight through the town, and in the centre there is a set of traffic lights, (a square on the right and a bar called Filipinas) where you turn left and that leads you past the Sobrellano Palace on the left, at the next roudabout take the first exit, (i.e. right) and then right again at the next roundabout. Follow this road that runs along the coast, past the campsite on both sides of the road, over a small bridge and past the petrol station on your right. The row of apartments on the right hand side is Lagos Azules, we are the last building on the right and you can park when you see the sign for the 21 km “milestone”

Activities and attractions

Ideally situated for visits to the Picos de Europa National Park where you can visit Fuente De with the cable car, or go hiking along its many signposted routes. Santillana del Mar, just a short 20 min drive with its medieval atmosphere and the cave museum. The Cabarceno wildlife park, a great day out for the kids, Surrounded by magnificent sandy beaches, the popular Comillas beach, just a short 10 minute walk away, Oyambre beach and the nature reserve. San Vicente de la Barquera, a delighful fishing port with a spectacular beach just 15 minutes away by car.
