Welcome to the "Finca Dona Sofia Maria"!

Enjoy the extraordinary weather of the "Costa Cálida" (WarmCost), which has three hundert sunny days a year. The "Finca Dona Sofia Maria" or country house is situated in San Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia) and is surrouonded by the best beaches of the Mediterranean Sea and Mar Menor.

The rustic style houses are equipped with everything needed while in vacation near the countryside annd sea. The countryside houses have television via satellite and heating. Each house dispose of a large terrace with views of the mediterranean garden ares. Discover other ways of enjoying your freetime...or enjoy your time in our swimmingpool-area.

The community garden large over 4000 m2 is put on in the Mediterranean style. In the garden is a grill place with tables and chairs, which is shadowed of a large Pergola.

Our "mini-farm" is one of the favorite corners of the children who visit us. Here are living chickens and Turkeys in the natural Habitat.

On the children´s playground with swings, chute, trampolin and much desire to playing the smallest ones can divert themselves. The distance to the beaches of Mediterranean and Mar Menor amounts to approx. 10 minutes with the car. A passenger car is necessary.

Activities and attractions

The coastline of Murcia is characterised by its sandy beaches. The most beautiful natural wonder on the coast is the Mar Menor. It is a shallow lagoon or pool, which is the largest of its kind in Spain. The water in the lagoon is very salty and maintains a hot temperature (5oC above the average Mediterranean temperature).

Large pond, Small sea, throughout history, the so-called Mar Menor has had different names, all of which coincide in the description of a phenomenon that nature designed as a great coastal lake (originally, an open bay) of 170 km2 of warm saltwater.

Since distant times, the wealth of its water, the kindness of the climate and the beauty of the area as a whole attracted many people.

Home of the sun! Facing the tranquil waters of Mar Menor, San Pedro del Pinatar is one of the main tourist destinations on the Murcia coast. Tradtionally a seafaring and agricultural centre, San Pedro del Pinatar has become one of the principal tourist towns on Murcia´s Costa Cálida.

A chain of mountains surrounds the plain which Murcia sits upon, a city of Arab origin whose existence is closely linked to the fertile lands around the river Segura. From among its streets of guilds emerges the tower of the Cathedral, one of the symbols of the city.

The port of Cartagena, in the Mediterranean´s Costa Cálida, has been prized since Carthaginian times. Thanks to its strategic position on the Murcia coast, it has been inhabited by several cultures which have left their mark on its artistic heritage. A tour of the place and its museums will draw us into the history of a city closely tied to the sea.

The Cartagena, Port of Cultures initiative allows visitors to enjoy a wide range of options, discovering the cultural wealth and rich history of this town.

Golf-Informations:" Costa Cálida" is called the Florida of the south. Here in less time excellent golf courses was developed. In few kilometers can be attained golf courses, which were planned by Jack Nicklaus. Like the Resorts and golf courses La Torre, La Loma, Hacienda Riquelme, Mar Menor Gulf Resort and El Valle Gulf Resort. In addition Roda Gulf and the well-known La Manga Gulf Club.

Touristic Routes

Arround the Mar Menor: Going around the Mar Menor by bike or trekking along routes, paths or even an old cattle track, always following the sea line, is always a good way to discover this piece of coast.

Unfortunately - or maybe not - the perimeter of the Mar Menor is not even. In the Encañizadas area, to the north of La Manga, there are several water canals that cut across the coast line, and therefore cannot be crossed by bike.

The salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar: The salt flats in San Pedro del Pinatar form the most important wetlands in the entire region. They were declared National Park in 1985.

Every year flocks of flamingos and other migratory birds nest here and use this national space as their connection between Africa and Europe.

Interesting places: The Regional Park of Salinas de San Pedro is a unique Mediterranean coastal landscape where in a small area you can see several morphological formations such as salt flats, salt marshes, reedbeds, beaches, dunes, "encañizadas" (traditional fishing system typical in the Mar Menor used to capture the fish entering the lagoon from the Mediterranean thanks to a complex network of logs and reeds) and pine trees on the sand.

There are many bird species, although the most spectacular ones are flamingos, who arrive in flocks at the end of the summer to spend the winter here. You can also see plovers, herons, barn owls, gulls, harriers and avocets, amongst other species. Salt flats have been in this area for as long as we can remember. Mar menor beaches: Mar Menor is a salted water pool, situated next to the Mediterranean Sea, in the Region of Murcia in Spain. Because of its special ecological and natural qualities, Mar Menor is an unique natural area and the biggest salted water lake in Europe.
