The accommodation

All the guest rooms at the castle have been renovated with the utmost care and we have used, wherever possible, the original materials. Each of the rooms have an enchanting view of the surrounding hills and the Apennines in the distance, making the Giomici Castle an ideal place for relaxing and immersing yourself in an atmosphere of times gone by. Thanks to the castle’s relative isolated location, at nightfall you can admire a magical mantle of stars in the sky; a far cry from the heavy light pollution of modern towns and cities that we are so used to today. We offer a choice of double, triple or family rooms and each room is equipped with heating and a television, as well as a luxurious bathroom with shower or bathtub and hairdryer.

Setting

Giomici Castle is a medieval fortress dating back to the eleventh century, and was originally built for the sighting of enemies and the defence of the Chiascio Valley from attacks by the armies of Perugia and Assisi; the historical enemies of Gubbio. The castle is located on the top of a hill adjacent to the village. Over the course of its millennia history, it has been the protagonist of many historical events. Today, after a complete renovation, the castle offers 9 beautiful guest rooms equipped with all of today's creature comforts.

Activities and attractions

Located in the middle of the Umbrian countryside, the castle offers a base from which to discover the nearby towns and cities which are rich in centuries of history. Perugia and its Etruscan heritage, the medieval cities of Gubbio and Assisi, the latter being the birthplace of St. Francis and the destination of religious pilgrimages, are all less than 20 minutes away. The castle is also strategically located along the Via di FrancescoFrancesco' (Way of St. Francis) and therefore offers unique and beautiful walks in the countryside. Or you could discover the countryside by bike or even on horseback, thanks to the riding stable located just a stone's throw from the castle. In the castle's garden you can also enjoy the swimming pool with breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside. Other available pastimes include table football and table tennis. Finally, your imagination will be the limit and at the castle you will enjoy that freedom and peace of mind so sought after, in order to relax from the stresses of everyday life.
