There are no beaches at Guia or Pombal as these are inland towns , but there is an aquapark just outside Pombal - perhaps that is it?

Praia da Ilha do Farol (Faro, Faro)

In 1992 I spent a week on this beach and it has stuck with me ever since. It is the one place that I refer to when people request my opinion on where to visit when in the Algarve. I was 20 at the time and one day if possible I would love to have a place there.

Faial (Horta, Isle of Faial)

This beach is ideal on faial island. Situated five minutes from downtown, near a restaurant, ball park and picnic areas in the village.

Varadouro (Horta, Isle of Faial)

This is the only way to swim in the rough waters of the atlantic. This pool is cleaned naturally by the tide, therefore omitting any harmful chemicals. Very nicely constructed and free to the public- there are wonderful picnic sites as well nearby.

Norte ou Fajã (Horta, Isle of Faial)
