In 1992 I spent a week on this beach and it has stuck with me ever since. It is the one place that I refer to when people request my opinion on where to visit when in the Algarve. I was 20 at the time and one day if possible I would love to have a place there.

This beach is ideal on faial island. Situated five minutes from downtown, near a restaurant, ball park and picnic areas in the village.

This is the only way to swim in the rough waters of the atlantic. This pool is cleaned naturally by the tide, therefore omitting any harmful chemicals. Very nicely constructed and free to the public- there are wonderful picnic sites as well nearby.

This beach is not for one seeking white sand,and calm waters. Instead, for the brave who might want to attempt surfing the waves or immersing oneself in the large rolling waves of the atlantic. The... [See more]
