This historic estate dates back to the sixteenth century. It was established by the Viscounts of Torre Bela, direct descendants of the first settlers of Madeira. Its private Chapel, built in the 16th century, bears the Coat of Arms of this British family. Its manor house, reconstructed and maintained as the original structure, dates back to the same period.

Various buildings on the property and the original farm houses surrounded by fruit plantations have been rebuilt in their original traditional structure and are available for rural tourism.
