The house is set in the small, friendly village of Romillo which is less than 1km from Arriondas and 7km from Cangas de Onis. It has beautiful views of the surrounding hillside and the Camino de la Reina passes by the house.
It's ideally situated to offer a secluded countryside feel but within easy reach of the town and all the surrounding attractions. There is wonderful walk over the hills via San Martin de Bada to Cangas de Onis. You gain entrance to Romillo via the village of Ozanes which is on the Oviedo road just outside of Arriondas. Cross the small railway line, cross the bridge over the river and head up the hill 500 metres until you reach the entrance to Romillo on the right hand side. On entering the village go up the hill and it's the first large house on the right side. Arriondas is a great functional town with supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
It also has a swimming pool and a large park area with views of the Picos. The coastal road is the same road that you enter Ozanes on but in the opposite direction to Oviedo...You will arrive in Ribadesella in under 20 minutes where you will find a beautiful harbour town with great food and lovely coastal walks.
Activities and attractions
The region is famous for a host of outdoor activities, including canoeing, horse riding, quad biking, and hiking. It is ideal for all lovers of the outdoors with stunning walks all around the surrounding hillside as well as being close to the coast. In 20 minutes you can be in the Picos de Europa, via the Basillica at Covadonga and the tomb of King Pelayo and on to the mountain lakes in The Picos, with some utterly breathtaking scenery.
Cangas de Onis is the central town in the area, is a ten minute drive from the house and is famed as the first Capital of Spain. Great food, friendly people, a vibrant Sunday market and the Roman bridge are just some of the charms of the town. There is also the town of Cabrales nearby, where the famous blue cheese is produced. There is a cave tour that shows you how the cheeses are made. Also in the region is the famous funicular railway up to the mountain town of Bulnes. The Region is packed with wonderful little towns, some of the best food Spain has to offer and it's a breath of fresh air for those that have not experienced " Green Spain "

A very nice place to stay
We stayed for 15 nights. The house was very comfortable and could have accommodated 7 with ease. It was lovely sitting on the rear patio area - the views were very peaceful and attractive. There was a great little bar/restaurant nearby (El Chigre d'Arenes) with wifi! Lovely people there. Nearby Arriondas was not as pleasant as Cangas which was vibrant and well worth a couple of visits especially for the Sunday market which was brilliant. We were well sited for the coast (Ribadesella is a great place: beach, promenade, cafes, shops, market, restaurants) or for the mountains for walks and scenery. Forget Covadonga but get up to the Lakes - they're stunning. Lots of other walks too. And, canoeing down the Sella with Aventura Norte is a must.
Peaceful & tranquil
A very peaceful and relaxing property. Ideally situated with everything you need only 1km in Arriondas. Lots of birdsong to listen to whilst relaxing in the garden looking at the beautiful scenery. Beaches around this area are stunning.
We can highly recommend this traditional Asturian house in a picturesque village with beautiful views of the hills and countryside around. The house is spacious, clean, and well decorated and we found it comfortable and well-equipped. A real bonus is the lovely garden with a stone terrace where you can enjoy breakfast al fresco or have dinner using the barbecue, also in the garden. The house is ideally situated as is it close to the town of Arriondas and to Cangas de Onis but in a tranquil rural setting - we found the village of Romillo very friendly and welcoming. All in all, we found the house ideal for our stay in Asturias and hope to return soon.
