A pretty chalet with a secluded garden and swimming pool, ideal for family holidays. The chalet, built in 1999 and fully renovated and painted in 2013 is light and airy, with views of the garden from all windows.
Inside, the chalet has an open-plan kitchen and dining-room with a separate lounge area with TV, sofa and armchairs and an open fireplace. The kitchen is modern, with an electric oven with gas hob, microwave, full-size fridge-freezer and double sink.
The main bedroom has a double bed and built-in wardrobes, while the second bedroom has two single beds. In addition, there is a double sofa-bed in the dining area.
The tiled shower room has a walk-in shower, WC and bidet.
Hot water is provide by a gas boiler. An electric radiator and mobile gas heaters are available for out-of-season rentals.
Outside, the chalet has a terrace of 12m2 with sunshades and ample space for family dining and there is a second stone dining table with benches in the garden. The swimming pool measures ca. 12m X 4m and is surrounded by a wooden safety fence with gate (constructed June 2013). The pool has shallow steps at one end allowing access by children and older swimmers.
The garden of the chalet is private, being surrounded by walls or hedges on three sides. Part of the garden is paved and the rest covered with gravel and the plantings include two olive trees, pines, and a mature palm.
The chalet has parking space for one car in the garden and a separate utlilty room / store where the washing machine is located. There is a full-size brick barbeque in the garden.
The chalet is located in the Tres Calas development, around 5 Km from the attractive fishing village / resort of L’Ametlla de Mar, and ca. 2,5 km from the sea. It is situated in an undisturbed part of the development, which has little traffic and is quiet at night.
A number of different beaches are easily accessible including the beautiful sandy beaches of St. Jordi and Cala Forn with beach bars (chiringuitos) in the season, the sandy cove of Cala Vidre, the rocky cove of Cala Mosques and the secluded pebble beach of Torrent del Pi. Due to the orientation of the beaches, the waters are clean and clear and are safe for bathing.
The local comercial area of Tres Calas, with supermarket, bars and other services is within walking distance (ca. 750m) and the busy village of L’Ametlla de Mar with supermarkets, market, many bars and restaurants and attractive fishing port is reached in ten minutes by car.
In addition, the pretty rural village of El Perello, which has weekend produce markets and a cooperative selling local oil, wine and almonds etc, is about 15 mins drive away in the direction south.
The area surrounding Tres Calas is one of the most attractive parts of the Costa Dorada; it is typified by olive and almond groves on the coastal plains with pine and holm oak woods on the slopes of the mountains. In this area the mountains are close to the sea and provide a backdrop to the quiet and unspoit beaches which rarely become crowded.
Access to Tres Calas is excellent, the AP7 motorway and A7 national road pass close by; Reus airport is 50 Km (30 mins) away and Barcelona airport 150 Km (90 mins) away. There is a train station in L’Ametlla de Mar, with frequent connections to Barcelona (2 hr) and Valencia.
Activities and attractions
The area is ideal for family beach holidays. For entertainment in the evenings the local centres of L’Ametlla, El Perello and Hospitalet de Infant offer a range of bars and restaurants for families and some nightclubs, while for those seeking all-night nightlife the larger resorts of Cambrils and Salou are less than half an hour away.
The excellent connections by road and rail mean that day trips to the famous amusement park of Porta Aventura, to the attractive historic cities of Reus and Tarragona and to Barcelona are easily possible.
For those interested in rural and cultural tourism, the area also offers many possibilties. The region inland has many historic villages and towns of interest, inlucluding Miravat with its templar castle in an unforgetable mountain location overlooking the river Ebro, a number of moorish castles and fortified towns such as Morella, towns with important bodegas built in the modernist style and important winery area of Priorato with its post-modern bodegas. To the south of L’Ametlla de Mar the Ebro Delta is an area of great natural interest for its wetlands, deserted sandy beaches and rice fields. There is alos the town of Penisola with its famous castle.
Food and drink in the area is based on local products from the sea and the mountains, with excellent rice and pasta (fideua) dishes and and a number of local specialities. Local wines, oil, cheese and honey are available for those interested in gastronomy.
