House for rent with swimming pool - Casa de Afora VT-00063

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay here. The owners are delightful, very welcoming and friendly. They have put a lot of thought into getting the details right... everything from the kitchen equipment through to bathrobes and towels still wrapped up from the laundry. This is probably the best equipped holiday house we have stayed in for years. Everything worked, the knives were sharp, there was plenty of cooking equipment, utensils and crockery. Spanish-style breakfast biscuits and cakes were waiting for us to use, along with some other basics including brand new washing up sponge, bottle of olive oil, milk etc. The kitchen equipment is in good order, and there is even an apron for the cook! It is also very clean and attractive.The only thing you might want to buy/take are plug in insect repellents. We appreciated the welcome apple tart and wine, as well as the liqueurs in the freezer, picking fresh lettuce and other produce from their vegetable patch and the occasional extra treat such as individual Tartas de Santiago. The swimming pool is a good size for a small house (10m long) and warmed up quickly after just a couple of days of sunshine on the solar panels. We took our student son with us, who didn't mind using the lounge area as a bedroom, and there was plenty of crockery, equipment etc for three, but the house is probably best suited for a couple. The pictures are very accurate. Plenty of space to sit outside, either in the garden or by the pool, with shady and sunny spots to suit all! It is an easy drive into the city (5-10 mins), with plenty of car parking options (paid for but not expensive compared with England), but also great access to other areas of Galicia which are well worth exploring. The owners will give you plenty of suggestions of places to see and routes to travel. It is about half an hour from the airport by car. Overall, this is a charming place to stay. This is real Spain and speaking some Spanish will probably make your holiday more enjoyable.

What a delightful find! The house has every comfort and convenience and the location could not be better. Our hosts were so kind, attentive and generous - and very patient with our rudimentary spanish. They made our stay so much richer with their knowledge of Santiago and all the wonderful day trips possible if you have a car. Even without a car there is a frequent bus service (bus stop just 200 meters from the house) that takes you right into the heart of the city in just 10 minutes. We look forward to returning soon and recommend this little gem without hesitation! Nos quedamos en Casa de Afora por diez días maravillosos en mayo de este año. Es un lugar perfecto para dos personas - muy cómodo,tranquillo romántico y con todo que se necesita. Se ubica menos de diez minutos por coche o autobús dal centro de Santiago de Compostela. Las vistas del campo circundando la casa son espectaculares. Los dueños son tan amables y generosos y proporcionan todo, incluyendo mucha información de la ciudad y de los alrededores. ¡Queremos volver pronto!

We stayed 6 nights in this wonderful house and enjoyed very much. We arrived in heavy rain and had some difficulties to find to the village because of our navigator. Later on we fóund out that it really had right about the small road it suggested to take. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners. They supplied us with food and delicious apple tart. It really was a good start. They also helped us in many ways during the week. Unfortunately my Spanish is so bad that the conversations were very simply. It was easy to drive to Santiago and find Parking there. We also made a couple of trips to the coast visiting several small towns and Finisterra, "End of the Land". We got good suggestions and maps from the family. We also drove to Coruna for one day. The swimming pool has a sun-heating system and although the weather was not too warm it was nice to swim in the pool. The house was perfect for two persons. The kitchen was very well equipped. On rainy evenings it was nice have fire in the fire place. It was nice to have your laundry made and dried in the sun so you didn´t have to start with washing when you came back home. The place is very peaceful and you really can enjoy good night sleeps without any kind of noise.
