The accommodation

PEACE HAVEN is in a quiet location, only 5 minutes’ drive to calheta beach and shops and restaurants, 30 minutes from funchal and 40 minutes from the airport.

Setting

It is ideally located for touring the island, with easy access to the North and its fabulous landscapes via Ribeira Brava. Porto Moniz and its natural swimming pools in the East are only 35 minutes away.

Activities and attractions

Big game fishing and dolphin and whale watching from the Calheta Marina. Snorkeling, diving, swimming, surfing, canoeing at Calheta beach. The terrace of the house offers a fabulous view of the ocean and mountains. The cottage has a fantastic network of trails and levadas. There are 2 (Madalena do Mar and Achada) of the more than 200 trails criss-crossing the island’s basalt rock masses, taking hikers into a rare natural world. Along these irrigation channels you will come across species of fauna and flora found hardly anywhere else in the world, in Madeira’s traditional Laurissilva Forest, which has been declared a World Natural Heritage Site. Nearby you can find small markets, restaurants and bars were you can taste the famous Poncha of Madeira. Depending on the time you visit us you can assist to religious celebrations or to various events on the island, like Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Carnival, Flower Party... Come and have fun with us
