The accommodation

Las Calzadas is a lovely cosy house, situated in an attractive residential area, with all the necessary facilities to have a pleasant holiday.

You can relax in the living-room, or have a quiet dinner on the terrace, while enjoying the views of the sea and local area. After a day at the beach, or visiting the surrounding area, you can park your car in the garage and sleep in our comfortable beds.

The house has three floors; the first one consists of the living-room, a fully equipped kitchen, toilet and garage; the second floor has three bedrooms (one double with an ensuite bathroom, a twin bedroom and a single room) and a bathroom; and the third floor consists of an attic room with four sofa-beds.

Setting

The house is situated in a residential estate, in San Vicente de la Barquera, which is a village in the West Coast of Cantabria, accessible from the Cantabrico motorway.

Once in the village, you can gain access to the house through a little road (300 meters from the village centre) or by walking (5 minutes from the village). The estate is part of a residential neighbourhood, next to the village and a rural area with grasslands and mountains.

Activities and attractions

San Vicente de la Barquera is a fishing village, that is popular with tourists.

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit it’s fishing harbour, it’s castle from the middle ages, and it’s gothic church (one of best in the Cantabria region of this style). In addition, you can try some delicious local seafood, in the popular restaurants that are in the village.

At the beach, you can choose between a relaxing and sunbathing, or trying the local water-sports. (There are several surf schools, which are suitable for children). In the surrounding area, you can also visit a number of other beaches (like Pechón, Oyambre or Penduelles), try river canoeing or trekking through marked routes. These routes are very picturesque.

In addition, you can visit the Natural Park “Picos de Europa” which is 40 km away, the wonderful “Cuevas del Soplao” (10 km), Santander (60 km), the village of Comillas (12 km) and Santillana del Mar (Cuevas de Altamira-cave painting- and Middle Age architecture, 22 km).
