The accommodation

This is a beautiful house recently renovated in front of the valley of the river Cares-Deva that descends from the Picos de Europa to the Cantabrian to flow into Unquera. The house has 5 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 people. With two bathrooms, an American kitchen and a living room. It has a garden with barbecue and children's games that looks out to the south, to the foothills of Picos de Europa and to the valley carved by the river. If there is good weather, guaranteed sun from morning to afternoon.

Setting

The house is in the municipality of Peñamellera Baja in eastern Asturias almost on the border with Cantabria. It is a perfect place to get to know both regions as the A8 motorway is just 12 km away and from there it is possible to travel from the border with France to Galicia and Portugal along the entire Cantabrian coast. In less than 15 minutes by car you can be on the coastline or at the same time at the gates of the Picos de Europa entering Arenas de Cabrales.

Activities and attractions

The possibilities of discovering and visiting places are inexhaustible. This house is the few accommodations that, due to its location, have everything (sea and mountain) within reach. The Cares path starts less than 20 minutes by car in Poncebos, the northern gateway to Picos de Europa. Llanes or San Vicente de la Barquera with its spectacular coves and beaches is less than 30 minutes drive north.
A little further away is the Jurassic Museum in Colunga or the Soplao or Altamira caves in Santillana del Mar.
A little further West to Gijón and Oviedo and east to Santander. And in between, hidden in many villages, corners and places, an endless number of restaurants, tascas, chigres, where you can taste the best local cuisine in Spain. From fish and seafood to meats and stews, cheeses, sweets, honeys and local products. Something no one should miss.
