The accommodation

The Bohío de Anero has all the feel of an habanera, a seductive blend of Cuba and Cantabria: from the Caribbean’s ropa vieja to the local cocido montañés, from mojitos to glasses of Solera White, from congas and mambos to our glorious surf. Home and away.
The large garden has a spectacular variety of plants and trees, a botanist’s dream. Overseeing it all is the huge black walnut tree which hugs, shelters and shades. Places to hide away and dream of return.
The three-storey south-facing house offers all the comforts for a few days away from it all. On the ground floor are the kitchen, the dining-room, the living-room and a double- bedroom for those who don’t want to climb stairs. On the first floor are the bedrooms, bathroom and a glazed veranda with a small office, to enjoy the summer and maybe get a bit of work done every now and then. On the second floor, there are two large attic rooms that the children will love - and perhaps even more so the grown-ups who want to keep them entertained.
Located in one of the most beautiful and enjoyable regions of Cantabria. The summer festivals are to die for, the restaurants range from Michelin-starred to terraces with properly fresh fried eggs. The beaches to get away to and be seen are less than half an hour from home. Santander is 25 minutes away and Bilbao 45 minutes - museums, shops and a bit of big-city life for those who yearn for a bit of the hustle and bustle.
In Somo, famous for its surfing schools, you can get the boat to Santander, which takes just 20 minutes. The bus to Santander stops very close to the house, and takes 45 or so.
From the house it’s an easy walk to restaurants and the village's 17th-century church. To do the shop, Hoznayo or Solares are only five minutes away by car.
