Setting
The property is located in the geographic center of Granada, 65 km away, Malaga, 104 km away, and Almería, 100 km away via the A7 and A44 motorways, so everything is within an hour or less by road, and 74 minutes from Malaga Airport and 52 minutes from Granada Airport. Motril is therefore very close to all the charming towns inland and coastal areas, including the three provinces: the Alpujarras, the Sierra Nevada, and so on.
Motril is a Spanish city and municipality located in the south-central part of the Costa Granadina region, in the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. On the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, this municipality borders Salobreña, Vélez de Benaudalla, Lújar, Gualchos-Castell de Ferro, and Torrenueva Costa. Other nearby towns include Molvízar, Itravo, Otivar, Jete, Lobres and Caleta-La Guardia, Almuñécar and La Herradura (in the direction of Málaga), Nerja, Torrox, Vélez Málaga and Torredelmar, El Rincón de la Victoria (in the direction of Almeria), Adra, El Ejido, Almerimar, Roquetas, etc. If you head inland, you can see the Rules and Izbor dams and enjoy water and adventure sports. Lanjarón, Orgiva, and the rest of the Alpujarras are also nearby.
The Guadalfeo River and the Puntalón ravine run through its area. The municipality of Motril is the southernmost in all of Granada and includes the population centers of Motril—the municipal and regional capital and seat of its own judicial district—El Varadero, Carchuna, Calahonda, Puntalón, Playa Granada, Los Tablones, Las Ventillas, La Garnatilla, La Perla, and La Chucha. It is the second most populated city in the province, preceded only by the capital. Its geographical location makes it an industrial and commercial center.
The port of Motril is both a commercial and fishing port, and also has a marina—the Real Club Náutico de Motril—as a recreational port. In recent years, the port has experienced significant growth due to its communication links with the African continent.
Motril and Granada's Costa Tropical, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, have a subtropical microclimate, influenced by the protection of the Lújar mountain range to the north, which curbs the cold winds of the Sierra Nevada, and the warm Mediterranean Sea, located to the south, which acts as a thermal regulator. The average annual temperature ranges between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. Summers are warm, with highs between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius, while winters are very mild, with highs between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius. This magnificent climate fosters the flourishing of subtropical vegetables, plants, trees, and fruits. An example is the Parque de los Pueblos de América (Peoples of America Park), with more than 50 types of tropical trees. Sugarcane cultivation was part of its economy, producing sugar, molasses, cane honey, alcohol, and excellent rum. Currently, intensive agriculture under plastic has been greatly developed, producing avocados, mangoes, sweetcorn, loquats, bananas, and more.
Tourism development is increasing... There is a golf course and exceptional gastronomy. You can enjoy beaches, coves, mountains, rivers, and reservoirs such as Rules and Béznar, countless hiking trails, and the Los Moriscos Golf Course. You can start the day skiing in the Sierra Nevada or visiting the Alhambra and end the day strolling at sunset on the beach.
Motril's climate, where the sun shines more than 300 days a year, allows you to enjoy its impressive exteriors, which include a viewpoint from which to contemplate the South. The sea, the Tropical Coast, and the Motril plains, and to the north, the Alpujarra and Lujar mountain ranges, Cerro del Toro, filled with pine forests, and avocado and chirimolla fields.
