The accommodation

The cottage features a charming double bedroom, in a traditional Salento building of historic value. There's a living area with a sofa bed, an open-plan kitchen, and a full bathroom with a comfortable shower. Completely renovated and furnished.

Setting

Sanctuary of San Giuseppe da Copertino: Located in the homonymous Via San Giuseppe, this baroque temple stands on the site of the stable where San Giuseppe Desa was born in 1603. Inside, the stable has been perfectly preserved and is a constant destination for pilgrimages by students and aviators, of whom the Saint is the patron saint.
Copertino Castle: Located in Piazza Castello, it is one of the most impressive and majestic Renaissance fortifications in all of Puglia. Designed by architect Evangelista Menga in the 16th century, it incorporates a previous 13th-century Angevin keep and is entirely surrounded by a large moat crossed by a stone bridge. Inside, the Chapel of San Marco and the frescoed Chapel of the Magdalene are worth a visit.
Basilica of Santa Maria ad Nives (Mother Church): Originally built in Romanesque style in 1088 by Count Goffredo the Norman, it is located on Via Margherita di Savoia. It stands out in the historic center for its imposing Baroque bell tower built in the 18th century. Inside, it houses the baptismal font where Saint Joseph was baptized and an ancient fresco of the Madonna della Neve.

Activities and attractions

In the heart of Copertino's historic center are extraordinary examples of Renaissance military architecture and places of deep devotion linked to Saint Joseph of Copertino, the "Saint of Flights." The entire old town is enclosed within the historic walls and can be easily explored on foot.
