Arenales del Sol is located in the eastern part of the municipality of Elche, on the coast, near the urban centers of El Altet and Balsares and within their rural areas. It is located on the Mediterranean coast, and its beaches extend for 4 km; it is 14 km from Elche and 11 km from Alicante.
History of Arenales del Sol
With almost three kilometers of fine, white sand, Arenales del Sol beach is one of the most highly valued on the Alicante coast, both for the quality of its waters and the richness of its seabed, as well as for its embryonic, mobile, semi-fixed, fixed, and even fossil dunes. It is also connected to the Clot de Galvany natural area, a wetland located between the urban areas of Arenales del Sol and Gran Alacant (in the municipality of Santa Pola).
It is located 5 km from El Altet International Airport and 14 km from Elche.
Its area is largely flanked by the buildings of the Elche district that gives it its name, with all the complementary amenities: restaurants, shops, kiosks, ice cream parlors, and a market (between June 15 and September 15) on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, where farmers come to offer their excellent local products. It also has stalls selling clothing and footwear, among other activities.
Ideal for windsurfing (there is a designated area for this purpose, where equipment can be rented) and other water sports and activities, Arenales is connected to El Carabassí by a long promenade that, especially at sunset, is filled with walkers, cyclists, and skaters. From this promenade, the seashore is accessed via wooden walkways. Awarded a Blue Flag, the unspoiled nature of the areas north and south of the city center gives it a high ecological value.
