Location

Los Arenales del Sol is located in the eastern part of the Elche municipality, along the coast near the towns of El Altet and Balsares and within their rural districts. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, it boasts 4 km of beaches and lies 14 km from Elche and 11 km from Alicante.

History of Arenales del Sol

With nearly three kilometers of fine white sand, Arenales del Sol beach is one of the most highly regarded on the Alicante coast. It is prized for the quality of its waters and the richness of its seabed, as well as for its diverse dune systems—ranging from embryonic and shifting dunes to semi-fixed, fixed, and even fossil dunes. Furthermore, it connects to the Clot de Galvany nature reserve, a wetland situated between the urban areas of Arenales del Sol and Gran Alacant (in the municipality of Santa Pola).
It is located 5 km from El Altet International Airport and 14 km from Elche.
The area is largely flanked by buildings from the local district that gives it its name, providing a range of amenities such as restaurants, shops, kiosks, ice cream parlors, and a market (held Tuesday and Friday afternoons from June 15 to September 15). Farmers attend this market to sell their excellent local produce directly, alongside stalls offering clothing and footwear, among other items.
Ideal for windsurfing (with a designated area and equipment rental available) and other water sports and activities, Arenales is linked to El Carabassí by a long seafront promenade. Especially at sunset, this walkway fills with walkers, cyclists, and skaters. Wooden boardwalks provide access from the promenade to the water's edge.
Awarded the Blue Flag, the area boasts high ecological value thanks to the unspoiled nature of the zones lying to the north and south of the main town.
