The accommodation

Located in the municipality of Valencia de Alcántara (Cáceres), the Virgen de la Cabeza rural cottages consist of a complex comprising three dwellings—La Lobita, El Salón, and El Piladero—all housed within the same building. These cottages are perfectly in keeping with the traditional architecture of the area and have been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of tourists. They are situated in the center of the La Morera estate, near the village of La Aceña de la Borrega.

This is the reconstruction of an old stone-walled house, much of which has been preserved, with parts of the structure and the entire interior of the home restored. Each of the cottages features a living-dining room with a fireplace and TV, two double bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom. They can be rented independently or as a complete accommodation (sleeping 12–18 people), as they can be connected to one another.

Two extra beds can be added to each house, so the possibilities are extensive; any group of 4 to 18 people can be accommodated completely independently.

Equipped with central heating and hot water in winter, and featuring a wonderful pool, furnished terrace, and landscaped areas with a barbecue in summer.

Setting

The houses are located at the foot of the Virgen de la Cabeza chapel, 12 km from the town of Valencia de Alcántara and 10 km from San Vicente de Alcántara. The nearest towns are La Aceña de la Borrega (4 km) and Alcorneo (3 km).
They are situated in the center of the estate known as La Morera, near the farmhouse where the estate’s owners reside.

Valencia de Alcántara is located in the southwest of the province of Cáceres, in a privileged setting between the two provinces of Extremadura and Portugal. To get there, you can take the EX-110 regional highway from Badajoz, or you can reach it from Cáceres via the N-521 national highway. It is 92 km from the city of Cáceres (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and 80 km from Badajoz.

Once in Valencia de Alcántara, the recommended route is to follow the N-521 toward Portugal, and after approximately one and a half kilometers, turn left onto the CV-112 road toward the town of Alcorneo. After ten kilometers, you will reach the village of Aceña de la Borrega. From the church in this village, a rural path leads to the Virgen de la Cabeza Hermitage, which goes right up to the front door of the houses.
