The accommodation

The Playa Galizano Apartments are housed in a typical rural manor on the coast of Cantabria – Casa Bos de Brazón. It was built more than two hundred years ago and was completely renovated in 2009, transforming it into an idyllic place of rest with six fully equipped apartments. During the renovation, the original stone and wood were preserved, complemented by newly crafted ceramics and wrought iron details. The new and the old, the modern and the austere coexist in harmony, using ecological and recycled materials while respecting the surroundings and the environment. A way of combining and highlighting different elements, creating a personal, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that invites us to read, write, unwind with the landscape and enjoy long walks in the area.

Setting

Thanks to the flat surroundings of wide pastures where Galizano is located, we can enjoy numerous trails for walking or cycling. This entire area is ideal for seaside excursions, strolling along the cliffs, as well as discovering the local estuaries and marshlands.

Galizano Beach is just a 5-minute walk from Casa Bos de Brazón, and other beaches such as Playa de las Arenillas, Playa de Langre, Playa de Loredo, the beaches of Somo and El Puntal, and Playa de Ajo are all less than a dozen kilometers away, easily accessible by road.

Activities and attractions

Just 24 km away is Cabárceno Nature Park, a wildlife park covering more than 750 hectares and home to around a hundred animal species; as well as El Soplao Cave, a unique cavern known for its rock formations and striking whiteness. For those who prefer the city, Santander is only 15 minutes away, where you can enjoy its promenades: El Sardinero, Paseo Pereda, and the Magdalena Palace. A visit to the city of Bilbao, less than 80 km away, and the Guggenheim Museum is also highly recommended.

Golf lovers have many opportunities to practice their favorite sport at the nearby Pedreña golf course, located just 10 km away.

In the surroundings of our house there are also facilities where you can go horseback riding or take part in various adventure sports.

The house is located on the Camino de Santiago, and therefore often becomes a resting place for pilgrims heading along the Northern Route to the Apostle’s shrine.

During the winter, there is the possibility of skiing at the Alto Campoo alpine ski resort, making day ski trips possible.
