La Casita del TejoHervás is located in the oldest part of Hervás, what would be the Christian quarter. It lies between the church—which was originally a fortress—the Ambroz River, and the Jewish quarter. It was restored in 2006, preserving all the craftsmanship of its ceilings, stone walls, and small arched windows. This gives it a particularly rustic and cozy character.

Hervás, located in the Ambróz Valley, is a town with a population of 3,965 and an elevation of 688 meters. It is 15 km from Béjar, 42 km from Plasencia, 70 km from Salamanca, 114 km from Cáceres, and 245 km from Madrid. Typical local products include ham, cherries, and extra virgin olive oil. The town is also known for its leather and wood crafts.

Activities and attractions

When visiting Hervás, be sure to check out its charming Jewish quarter, its historic center with its two churches—Santa María and a Trinitarian convent converted into a church—the museum dedicated to the sculptor Enrique Pérez Comendador, and, for car enthusiasts, a museum dedicated to classic motorcycles and vintage cars. Hervás is nestled in an ideal setting for hiking through its chestnut groves or taking guided tours as part of the “Magical Autumn in the Ambroz Valley” activity program.
Within the same municipality, there are small pools of crystal-clear water, and in nearby villages, several natural pools for summer days, as well as horseback riding trails.
Just 30 km away is the Covatilla ski resort for winter days, and during the area’s spectacular spring, the impressive cherry blossom blooms in the fields of Hervás and the nearby Jerte Valley are a highlight.
For nature lovers, not far from Hervás is the Monfragüe Natural Park and the charming village of Granadilla, which was once surrounded by the waters of the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir but has since been restored and is open to visitors.
