La Fuente San Andres Golf; 8km to the beach

The accommodation

La Fuente [375m2] surrounded by gardens [2300m2] is set in a quiet street on San Andres Golf next to the sixth fairway of Campano Golf. Having left your car [there is space for four cars] in the drive the main entrance to the house brings you to a courtyard with fountain, palms and other plants. Double glass doors open on to the airy hall with staircase leading to the roof terrace.

Off the hall is the guest cloakroom with walk-in rainfall shower. to the left an arch leads to bedrooms two and three each with full ensuite bathrooms.

To the right is the kitchen, master bedroom with full ensuite and utility room leading to the fourth and fifth bedrooms which share a shower bathroom.

Straight ahead is the spacious lounge and dining room with double glass doors to the porch, terrace, pool and garden overlooking the sixth fairway with distant views to the hills through the pine trees. The kitchen is accessed from the dining room and also from the hall.

There is a woodburner in the lounge and full gas central heating, hot and cold air conditioning in all rooms except the kitchen and entrance hall. There is a full sized single fold up bed and a baby bed [for under 3 years] plus a high chair if required. There is plenty of bedlinen and towels plus beach towels.

The garden is accessed from the double doors in the dining room which leads on to the back porch and terrace. The pool which is 11m x 5m x 2.0m is shielded from the golf course by a fence of oleander: table tennis table, badminton, croquet and Molly (a lot of fun and similar to skittles).

The gardens [2300m2] surround the house: the front garden is mainly lawn surrounded by oleander there is space in the drive for four cars; the house is shielded from the road by a pomegranate tree, a jacaranda, oleanders palms and other shrubs.

Kiichen

There is a large selection of pots and pans, cutlery and utensils plus orange juicer, electric whisk and several coffee machines : filter coffee, Nescafe Dolche Guiso sachet machine and a Nespreso machine.

The garden [with pool, charcoal bbq and gas paellero. There are sunloungers, an additional bench table for eight and sun umbrellas; there are additional fold up garden chairs.

Setting

The house is on a leafy quiet street on San Andres Golf overlooking the sixth fairway.

San Andres is an urbanisation surrounded by 18 fairways of Campano Golf with lakes and other water features. There is a restaurant/tapas in the Campano Golf Club and a BubbleBurguer restaurant with small supermarket. Not far away is exit 15 for the very underutilised E5-A48 motorway. Jerez airport is about 45 minutes, Seville and Gibraltar both about 1 hour 45 minutes and Malaga is about 2 hours 45 minutes - all easy driving.

San Andres is surrounded by farmland and pine woods; the nearest beach (8 minutes by car) is the beautiful Roche-Barrosa beach at El Torre de Puerco [Lomo de Sancti Petri].

The closest shops are at El Colorado: a good Carrefour, petrol station, pharmacy, a vet, a number of restaurants, a newagents and several small shops.

For bread, cakes and savouries we go to La Cremita on the edge of the nearby polígono pelagatos (on the road to Chiclana).

For all other food and more we go to the Mercado de Abastos in plaza Las Bodegas in Chiclana. Underground car parking. . . . renowned for the quality of local produce the 20 or so fish counters are closed on Mondays.

Activities and attractions

Conil is about 15 minutes drive and chiclana is also about 15 minutes. Nearby are several championship standard golf courses, horse riding stables, go-karting, an archery centre, tennis and padel tennis courts, a kite surfing centre and marina. In Chiclana close to the cinemas is an indoor ten pin bowling centre.

The ancient city of cadiz is jut 20 minutes drive, also nearby is jerez with its sherry bodegas and famous dressage school. Seville with its soaring giralda and magnificent cathedral with nearby alcazar is an easy daytrip but often lengthy queues for the alcazar. A horse drawn carriage ride takes in the beautiful avenues and past the pavilions of the 1929 Ibero-American Expo including the plaza Espana. All around are hilltop towns such as Arcos, Medina Sidonia, Vejer and Tarifa. Tangiers is just 35 minutes by high speed ferry from tarifa .

Food shopping
nearby el colorado has everything you might need: a good sized Carrefour with fresh fish and meat counters, a couple of smaller supermarkets, chemist, traditional restaurants, a takeaway pizzeria, an estancos, veterinary surgeon, a number of small shops and a couple of petrol stations..

Really worthwhile, however, is the mercado de abastos in chiclana [plaza de las bodegas, opened in march 09] for fresh meat, fresh fish [not mondays], fresh and cooked meat, cheeses, bread, tinned specialities, fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, teas, spices, homeopathic produce and wines and spirits.

For bread, savouries and cakes we go to La Cremita which is on the outer road of the poligono pelagatos [on the way to Chiclana].
