Setting

The apartment is situated in a charming and historic square, Plaza Huguitos, in the centre of Almunecar away from busy roads and traffic. From the apartment there are views over the square which has cafe bars, wine cellar (Bodego) and shops. From the roof terrace there are views over the town and surrounding mountains. Within a few minutes walk there is access to the open air market, the Town Hall square and mains shopping centre.

Activities and attractions

Almunecar is an historic town dating back to the Pheonecians in 800 bc followed by the Romans 2000 years ago. In Ajuelo park there artisan workshops, ancient fish salting baths and an arboretum featuring many South American trees and stone carvings by a local sculptor. Roman excavations can be seen in the town centre.There is a castle located above Ajuelo Park and a bird park at Sexi, an ancient Roman settlemt. There is a fabulous aquarium by the openmarket just a 2 minute walk from Plaza Higuitos. Almunecar has many beaches, some secluded with Chirringuito beach restaurants. There is a large water park located on the beach just outside the town.
