The accommodation

In the centre of town, close to the Parliament, a short walking distance from Chiado and Bairro Alto, with their nightlife, shops, museums and theatres, and on the route of tram 28, the most scenic tram in Lisbon...

The building underwent full renovation in 2004 and was awarded the second prize in a national competition promoting the reconstruction of old town buildings. Its major source of beauty are the glazed tiles, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Setting

S. Bento street, with its antique shops, and the national parliament are 1,300 feet (400m) away from the apartment. Santos, labeled the 'design district' for its cluster of shops dedicated to design, is located 2,000 feet (600m) away.

Walking the opposite direction as you leave the apartment, 900 feet (300m) away you'll find bohemian Bairro Alto, with its nightlife and alternative shops. A couple of steps further and you're in Chiado, a more sophisticated district, with old-style cafes, theaters, some renowned bookshops, and shops on the luxurious side.

To go to Principe Real, where you’ll find interior design shops, more antique shops, the botanic garden, and several gay bars and clubs, walk 2,000 feet (600m) from the apartment.

To go to Alfama and the castle or the flea market on Saturdays or Tuesdays, you can catch tram 28 (for 1 mile, 1.6 km) (the stop heading in that direction is located on the street behind the building).

The Marina Doca Alcantara is 1.7 miles (2.7 km) away, with a direct 2 minute train connection to Santos station (which is 2,600 feet or 800m from the apartment).

Lisbon synagogue is 1 mile (1.6 km) away.

Cafés, pastry shops, restaurants --and churches-- go without mentioning, as there are so many of them all around...
