Activities and attractions

On the surroundings of the city, you can take a walk along the coastal or river cycle path or along one of the many marked trails, as well as practice surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and bodyboarding on beaches of fine golden sand. And still go jet-skiing, sailing, rowing or canoeing on the Lima River
The buildings date from several different centuries, presenting different styles. Some of the highlights: Basilica de Santa Luzia, from the beginning of the 20th century, with a fantastic view of the city and the river Lima, the old town hall building and the 16th-century fountain in Praça da República, the Gothic cathedral, etc.
You can visit Ponte de Lima, the oldest city in Portugal; Guimarães, the first capital of Portugal, where the first King D. Afonso Henriques was born; Porto, a wonderful city, with its Port Wine cellars and the magnificent landscapes of the Douro River, Braga with the enormous staircase of Bom Jesus; the wonderful Gerês National Park with beautiful landscapes throughout this region, etc.
