The accommodation

Rural house ideal for families or friends, designed for winter & summer living, nestled in 4,000 SQ M of private gardens surrounded by hills, with a small river below. Enjoy the privacy and freedom of your own valley in a spacious house with views all around. A short drive from beaches, mountains, gorges and other natural wonders. Experience misty mornings and starry nights, sleep with the sound of the river in your ears, and wake up to bird song.

Newly built in traditional Asturian style, with 21st century comforts, including underfloor heating, wifi throughout and internet connected TV. The house has three floors - the ground floor living room has comfortable sofas and window seats to enjoy the views or read a book, as well as a fireplace and desk area if you need to work. The kitchen/diner offers plenty of space for cooking, with all the necessary utensils, as well as a small coffee machine for freshly ground coffee in the mornings, and a blender for smoothies. There is seating for up to 10, with views onto the garden. The utility room has coat and shoe storage as well as the washing machine/dryer etc, and there is also a small downstairs toilet. The 1st floor has 3 bedrooms. The large master bedroom has sweeping views across the valley, a kingsize bed, 2 comfortable armchairs, a small desk, and ensuite bathroom with shower and bath. The smaller middle room has a queen sized bed, with bathroom just across the hall with shower. The 3rd bedroom has a queen size bed (can also be 2 singles), and ensuite bathroom with walk in shower. The attic has 4 single beds and its own bathroom with shower.

Outside in the garden, the original horreo provides covered outdoor dining if it's raining. There are 2 BBQs for guest use, as well as all BBQ tools. There is a large flat lawn for ball games or yoga, and a little path at the end of the garden leads to the River Zardon, a haven of tranquility where you can relax and enjoy the ambience. If the skies are clear, Casa La Roza is also a wonderful place for star gazing. Relax on the terrace and enjoy the passing of the Milky Way overhead, and the occasional shooting star if you are lucky.

This is our holiday home, we have filled it with art and furniture that we have collected from our travels around the world, and we hope you will relax and enjoy this space as much as we do.

Setting

Casa La Roza is a haven of privacy and nature. Enjoy the stunning views all around, relax in the garden or by the river, take a 25 min walk into the hills to the renowned restaurant El Molin de Mingo for lunches. A longer walk will take you into Peruyes Village, where you will find La Pousada for hearty meals, or a further walk will reach Picu La Vieya, which has great daily menus and BBQ lamb at the weekends. Further afield, you can visit Restaurant Carceu, a 90 min walk from the house. Supermarkets, butchers, grocers and all other shops are available in Arriondas or Ribadasella (both within 15mins drive), or Cangas de Onis is 20 mins away, which has shops open on Sundays also, as well as the famous Sunday Market. The stunning beaches of Vega, Niembru and Torimbia are all within 30 mins drive, with some great cafes and restaurants.

Activities and attractions

Casa La Roza is perfectly situated between the jagged peaks of the wild and magical Picos de Europa, and the dramatically picturesque coastline of untamed beaches, forests and fields. Cangas de Onis, known for it’s pretty Roman Bridge, ancient Sunday market and as the gateway to the mountains, is just 20 minutes drive away, as is the charming town of Ribadasella, where the River Sella meets the sea, with an elegant seaside promenade and sandy beach, and cafes, restaurants and shops.
