Studio - Old town - 30m from beach

The accommodation

Ground floor studio (25 square meter), a former fishermen house.
From the frontdoor, you can see the beach, palmtrees and sea, just a few seconds away.

This studio was renovated in 2016 but kept his original features (except from kitchen and bathroom). The outside of the house is still in his original colorful terracotta color.

The frontdoor is immediately next to the kitchen of a Spanish restaurant where you can look into how they prepare the food. The kitchen staff is very friendly (but speak only Spanish like a lot of people in the neighborhood)

When you enter the studio, you will find to the left the bathroom consisting out of shower, sink and toilet.

A bit further you will find the kitchen and the bed: It is a studio ! No separate bedroom.
The bed is a double bed (135 by 190 cm). The kitchen is very basic but most stuff you need for a simple breakfast/lunch/dinner is there: Coffee maker, 2 cooking rings, mini oven, cups, glasses, plates and cutlery --> Why cook yourself, there are lots of restaurants within 3 minutes walk !!! :-)

The studio has no air conditioning! There is a ceiling fan above the bed and a standing fan for cooling. I must say it can be very warm in the summer during a heatwave.

Since 2022 there is high speed internet (Glass Fiber) which is shared with the 1st floor (router is on 1st floor).

There is a 32 inch smart television with an aerial connection for Spanish channels and it has some smart apps. When you want to use Netflix/Disney/HBO/Amazon/NOW/Spotify or whichever streaming app, you have to use your own logins.

There is a large side window, which looks out on a communal patio, which is located next to the house. The patio is sometimes used by neighbours and can be used by my guests (don't leave furniture outside).

At the back of the studio, there is a little window that looks on a patio of an Argentinian restaurant (patio is not used by their customers).

Also at the back there is a wardrobe for storing your clothes and there are 2 comfortable cubes to sit in and watch television or read a book.

A set of towels and bed linen will be provided on arrival.
If needed, my cleaner can bring a new set of linen or towels and/or do your laundry. Another option is to go to a laundrette on the mainroad.

Setting

The studio is situated in the old town of La Villajoyosa, where the local fishermen used to live.
Most houses in the old town are 100+ years old.
As it was used to be, the houses have all different colors and that is where the Old Town of Vilajoyosa is known for.

The area still has a nice mix of locals, regionals, Spanish and internationals (Norwegian, Dutch, English, French).

There are many bars and restaurants nearby along the boulevard (one way street, max speed 20km/h). Ask me, which are my favourite restaurants to have dinner !

There is an underground parking under the boulevard (so just around the corner). Free parking is also possible but you have to walk a minimum of 5 minutes along the boulevard which is what I usually do. (Free parking spots available starting after the beach Pharmacy but it is busy in the summer).
Near the alley where the studio is located, there are some official and unofficial possibilities to temporarily stop your car ... until the traffic police arrives ;-)

Activities and attractions

In the harbour you can :
* find a scuba dive center (Alisub)
* Rent boats, jet-ski's, kayaks/canooing, sailing
* training in sailing and kayaking

There is a nice walk to an ancient watch tower (30 minutes) towards Alicante.
There is a long walk to Playa Torre which also has an monumental Tomb (4 meters high), see pictures.
In the mountains, there are all kind of walks you can do. The most spectacular one is the Pasarela de Relleu with halfway during the walk a Camenito del Rey on glass plates (did you watch Squidgames ?)

From La Vila, you can go easily (even by public transport) to Alicante (Castle Santa Barbara !) or if you must .... Benidorm (way too busy for me). If you like the nightlife everyday of your holiday ...go there and stay there and pay 60 euros for an excursion to La Vila !
