This wildlife oasis is a succession of lagoons, beaches, rocky areas and Mediterranean maquis, really important for bird migration. The natural reserve of Vendicari is located in the Syracuse province, between Noto and Marzamemi, and it preserves the archaeological and architectural remains of human presence since the Hellenic age. Noteworthy are the Swabian Tower (XV century) and the "tonnara di Vendicari" (XVII century), proof of the economical and commercial power of this coastal area.
